Studying in New Zealand
Academic Programme Onehunga High School prepares students for all New Zealand public examinations and for tertiary education. International students can select subjects taught at Year 9 (Form 3) to Year 13 (Form 7) level. International students are encouraged to complete the IELTS programme that leads to an internationally recognised English Qualification.
Additional Pastoral Care Onehunga High School values the rich cultural diversity of its school population and understands the importance of caring for international students. The Director of International Students, the Dean of lnternational Students, School Counsellor, Year Level Deans, and ESOL teachers are all available to assist international students with any issues they may have. The School employs multilingual counsellors to ensure international student needs are met.
Fee Structure International students will pay one set fee to attend Onehunga High Business School. This fee includes other subjects to be studied through Onehunga High School. Fees are set at the start of each academic year. Current fee information can be obtained from the Onehunga High School office.
Text books associated with normal classes will be provided on loan. At the completion of the school year the text books must be returned to the relevant department. Students will be charged for any non-returned textbooks.
Additional Costs These vary and are therefore not covered by the standard tuition fee. As the Onehunga High Business School runs a number of programmes that require extra participation by students, some additional fees may apply.
Uniform Every student of the Onehunga High Business School is required to wear a correct Onehunga High School uniform. ( Adults wear Mufti).
Getting A Visa Onehunga High School strongly recommends that where possible, prospective international students use a local Education Consultant to help with getting a visa. A list of consultants and agents is available from the New Zealand Embassy or High Commission in your area. The consultants will handle all the paperwork. Students can obtain a visa without using an agent by corresponding directly with the school. Contact details for the business school can be found under 'Finer Details'.
Homestay The welfare and safety of international students is carefully monitored by Onehunga High School. All international students must live in a school approved homestay. (This could be with a responsible adult relative, provided they are the legal guardian.) There are costs involved with this arrangement that need to be fully discussed with the School. For their homestay payments students will receive a fully furnished room, all their meals and their laundry. They also have access to help at all times and their care in homestay is closely supervised by the homestay co-ordinator. |
