| Course Description: |
This course has been designed to prepare students for the Level 1 Technology Achievement Standards. It provides opportunities for students to learn a range of software applications – Microsoft Word, Excel, FrontPage, Access and basic programming in VB.Net. Skills gained will enable students to design, develop and create technological solutions that meet given briefs. Students will use planning and develop and apply problem solving skills to guide them throughout their technological practice. |

It has been designed to give students options at Level 2 to choose either Technology or Information Management. The Technology component of the course gives students the opportunity to develop skills in technological practice which includes planning, problem solving and design skills. Information Management provides students with the computer skills needed to continue Information Management at Level 2. |

This course is designed to provide students with the high level computer skills needed to produce computer generated technological solutions to meet a client need/opportunity. Students are required to use planning to guide their technological practice. Work to, design and create a Project Brief with a set of specifications. This gives students a set of guidelines to test their technological solution against. Students present their design ideas using computer generated sketching techniques. The technological solution and related documents will be computer generated. Students will also be offered 10 Level 3 credits in generic computing. |
