Bring It On
“Vibrant, entertaining and unique” - three words that describe Onehunga High School’s Bring it On Team in 2007. A strong team of talented students combined their skills this year to participate in the biggest social event of the year showcasing the hip hop culture of New Zealand. Bring it On’s Objective? To ensure that the adolescent generation are strong leaders who positively impact their peers, their culture and their community. But who would come out on top? Who would dominate the stage and become Bring it On Champions for 2007? Being led by our four talented leaders, Bernard Loa, Chan Yan Kim, Tiraroa Isherwood and Salote Finau, we were confident we would receive a placing at the Central Zone competition. After an exhilarating performance our team was third and we were on our way to the grand final!! Although we were on our way to the top there were obstacles that stood in our way – sporting commitments, relationship dramas and even our leaders quarrelling! We quickly learnt that these were common barriers within a team and that the only way to truly become champions is to unite and work as equals in a group. We worked hard and pulled together our brand new routine, “Classified”, to travel with enthusiasm and confidence to the grand final.
