Drama
A huge year for Drama in 2007! With the three year 10 classes, the number of talented and exciting students in the programme continues to grow! Under the watchful eye of the brilliant Ms Cooke and “mostly stable” Mr Gilbert, these students have produced everything from music videos to radio plays and even a bit of cross-dressing thrown in for good measure. So well done to all of those fantastic individuals in the junior Drama classes, including all those that got stuck into the Year 9 Performing Arts module and produced some entertaining work – big thanks to Ms Cope, Ms Robbins and Ms Whyte.

The Year 11 to 13 students this year has been little short of outstanding. They have tried new types of drama and progressed extremely well as young actors. The two Year 11 classes this year have performed original devised pieces, classical Melodrama and Mask to mention a few, and have been superb in doing so. These highly energetic individuals are in great stead for success in 2008.The Year 12s also continue to impress. Tackling some difficult contemporary New Zealand Theatre, they certainly have done these pieces justice. It was obvious that one of their strengths was being over the top, so the results in Soap Opera Achievement Standard were outstanding. Well done!
And of course the Year 13s.This exceptional group of students are in their final year of Drama and should be thanked for all they have contributed to the life of the school through the Dramatic Arts. Some stunning monologues and great performances in Hamlet are fitting and slightly insane endings to a successful school based dramatic career. Good luck and thank you, as you are unleased on the world!
