Jazz Band
Once again the fabulous and dedicated Onehunga High School Jazz Band have reinforced their great reputation in the community. 2007 presented the Jazz Band with new challenges as many of the senior members had finished their time at school leaving the junior’s to step up and allow their musical talent to develop and shine. With unprecedented numbers of young musicians they performed such hits as Fly Me to the Moon and I’ve Got Sunshine. One of the amazing opportunities this group had was their chance to perform at the Epsom Community Library. Well done to all of the instrumentalists and vocalists who attended this stunning performance.
The Onehunga High School Jazz Band began the year with a spectacular concert at the Botanical Gardens followed by an appearance at the Mangere Bridge Jazz & Blues Festival which was Joan Corbett and Justin Price’s first public performance.A successful Epsom Public Library lunchtime concert celebrated the NZ Music Month of May, and by then the junior and senior jazz bands were well established with regular assembly performances.
