Stage Challenge

At 6:30 am on Friday June 1st, over 100 students and teachers met at the school hall to board the buses bound for the Supre Stage Challenge 2007. Donning their “Don’t Be a Sheep, Be a Kiwi” t-shirts the bright eyed and still asleep made their way to the Aotea Centre to meet for the events that would lead to the performance that night. Months and months of preparation would come down to this one eight minute performance and the pressure was on.
Upon arrival the screaming began and as the day progressed it continued. Not screams of pain and agony but screams of excitement and anticipation. There were 11 other schools there and a myriad of activities and other things to do.
Rehearsal time came up and apart from a few little wee problems with the set we were ready to go. The fabulous Isaac had drawn us performing in first place so we were set to start the show off with a bang!

With Rt Hon Helen Clark in the audience and the TV cameras rolling Jasmine Wagner came out and gave the team an amazing introduction. And so the show began and it was spectacular. Onehunga High came away with awards in Soundtrack, Performance Skill, Set Design and Function and the only school to come away with the prestigious Te Puutake Pacifica Award. Thanks to all those involved and of particular note to all of the amazing group leaders who made this event possible.
