Preamble This Enrolment Scheme complies with the purposes (as set out in Section 11A) and principles governing content and implementation of enrolment schemes (as set out in Section 11B) of the Education Act 1989.
Enrolment Enrolment at Onehunga High School shall be determined in accordance with the following priorities.
Enrolment Scheme All students living in the home zone are entitled to enrol at the school at any time.
The area described below shall be the Home Zone ( refer to Zoning Map) within which domestic or exempt students residing shall be entitled to enrol at Onehunga High School.
a) On the northern side of the Manukau Harbour the boundary runs from Hillsborough Cemetery via Hillsborough Road (including both sides of Hillsborough Road), St Andrews Road to Selwyn Road, Pah Road and Ngaroma Road (included in each case) to One Tree Hill Domain; from the Domain across Campbell Road at its intersection with Moana Avenue - then via Moana Road, Namata Road, Curzon Street, Mays Road and Captain Springs Road (included in each case) to the Manukau Harbour.
b) South of the Manukau Harbour the boundary follows a line south of Ambury Road, Taylor Road, Domain Road and Hastie Avenue so that both sides of these streets, and of the no exit streets leading off them, are included in the Onehunga High School enrolment area.
First Priority: This priority category is not applicable at this school because the school does not run a special programme approved by the Secretary.
Second Priority: Will be given to applicants who are siblings of current students.
Third Priority: Will be given to applicants who are siblings of former students.
Fourth Priority: Will be given to applicants who are children of board employees.
Fifth Priority: Will be given to all other applicants.
If there are more applicants in the second, third, fourth or fifth priority groups than there are places available, selection within the priority group will be by a ballot conducted in accordance with instructions issued by the Secretary under Section 11G(1) of the Education Act 1989. Parents will be informed of the date of any ballot by notice in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school.
Pre-Enrolment Procedures:
Each year the Board of Trustees will: · Determine a period during which applications for enrolment will be accepted for the following year. · Develop procedures to be followed in the application process. · Specify the information which parents/caregivers may be required to supply in support of an application for enrolment for the following year.
Adult Students The school is pleased to receive enrolments from adults who wish to return to school to take subjects in Years 11, 12 and 13. Enquiries about courses are welcome.
Overseas Students The school welcomes enquiries for enrolment from overseas students. Further information can be obtained by writing to the Principal.

Enrolment at Onehunga High School is governed by an enrolment scheme, which consists of a home zone and procedures for enrolling out of zone students.
1. In zone students have an automatic right of entry and enrolment will take place as follows:
a.. 2 August – 13 August 8.30am – 3.30pm Mon–Fri (Appointment necessary)
b. 9 August – 12 August 3.30pm – 6.00pm (No appointment necessary)
2. Out of zone enrolments will take place as follows:
26 July – 6 August 2.30pm – 5pm Mon – Fri (Appointment necessary)
Applications from out of zone students will be processed in priority order and details of this are contained in the enrolment scheme which is available for inspection at the school office. Applications must be made by 1 September 2010.
If the number of applicants exceeds the number of places available, students will be selected by ballot. This will take place on 6 September 2010.
