Homestay

Your welfare and safety are important to us. Your parents are sending you far from home for your education and they may be anxious and worried about you while you are in New Zealand. Outstanding homestay and excellent pastoral care is important. All host families are carefully selected and safety checked by our Homestay Manager.

For your homestay payments you will receive a fully furnished room, including a desk and chair. You will have three meals per day plus access to snack food, unlimited wi-fi internet and laundry washed.

Designated Caregiver (DCG)

If you wish to live with a relative or a close family friend during your time studying at Onehunga High School, you are able to do so. This is called a Designated Caregiver or DCG arrangement. We do not make payments to designated caregivers for hosting international students.

Your designated caregiver will also need to go through the same approval and safety check process as a host family, (as required by the Code of Practice) so please ask your chosen caregiver to contact our team as soon as possible to start this process.

Your Parents

You can also live with your own mother or father if they wish to come to New Zealand with you. They must apply for a Guardian Visa in order to be able to arrive and live with you. Please note that a guardian visa does not allow your parent to work whilst in New Zealand.

Important

Students may NOT live alone, or in shared houses with friends, even if they are 18 years old or above.
