Te Reo Māori teacher - Applications close 9 July

Kei te kimi mātou i tētahi kaiako mō te reo Māori. Ka whakaako ia i ngā karaehe mai i te tau tuaiwa ki te tau tekau mā toru.

We are seeking a Te Reo Māori teacher with the ability to teach te reo Māori from Year 9 to NCEA Level 3. You will be joining a kura that embraces Mātauranga Māori and actively upholds the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

This is a full time, permanent position with a negotiable start date, depending on the availability of the successful applicant. The role includes a generous remuneration package to acknowledge the expertise required and the importance of this position within our kura. This package also reflects our deep and ongoing commitment to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi and promoting te reo Māori me ōna tikanga as a valued and visible part of our school culture.

You will work alongside Māori staff to strengthen tikanga Māori and te reo across the school. We also have a dedicated kapa haka tutor, so teaching kapa haka is not a requirement, although experience in this area would be an advantage.

Thinking About Becoming a Teacher?

Onehunga High School is proud to partner with the University of Auckland’s Teacher Education in Schools Programme and The Teachers’ Institute to support the development of future educators.

We welcome expressions of interest from recent graduates and those considering a career change. These in school training models allow you to complete your Graduate or Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching online through one of our partner providers, while gaining hands-on experience training onsite at Onehunga High School. You’ll be supported by experienced teachers and mentors, and become fully immersed in school life. Your university fees are covered, and a training stipend is paid throughout the year.
