OHS Marae Te Haerenga provides inspiration for Y11 artists

Year 11 Art students have this term been working on an assignment for which our marae Te Haerenga was the inspiration.

When completed the artwork was to be a collaborative piece, that was special to our place and our journey. Students had to complete research before they began working individually on their own responses. The finished painting is an acrylic on cardboard made up of a small collection, representative of the work done by the Year 11 class.

‘’ I have enjoyed working on this project. It is calming and reflective, it sort of connects me more to the school,” a perceptive comment from one of the Year 11 students. Te Haerenga will be the focus of further art projects for the class this year.
