Students enjoy Kava Ceremony.

A kava ceremony, attended by many of our Tongan students marked the beginning of Uike Kātoanga'i 'o e Lea Faka-Tonga, at OHS.

Kava ceremonies are an important part of life for the Tongan people. They are used to mark important occasions, and achievements and to bring together people in friendship and unity.

This was an opportunity for students to learn the protocols around the ceremony. The gentle singing of traditional songs added to the richness of the experience.
