Onehunga Playcentre parents and children were welcomed onto our Te Haerenga Marae on Friday.

This was an opportunity for us to meet our neighbouring playcentre families and acknowledge and celebrate the community we are all part of.

Many of the families had come to New Zealand from countries all over the world and yet there were many connections among them to OHS.

It was a delight to witness the wide-eyed fascination of these young tamariki as they observed the unfolding Powhiri. They took it all in their stride and appeared to enjoy the experience. Our students shared their knowledge of tikanga with our guests and after sharing kai treated us all to some superb waiata, to conclude the visit.

This was whakawhanaungatanga at its most enjoyable.
