OHS REPRESENTING NEW ZEALAND AT WORLD TSUNAMI AWARENESS SUMMIT IN JAPAN

OHS REPRESENTING NEW ZEALAND AT WORLD TSUNAMI AWARENESS SUMMIT IN JAPAN

Last weekend, five senior OHS students and Ms. Gabriel traveled to Japan to represent New Zealand at the Tsunami Awareness Day 2024 in Kumamoto.

This is an exciting opportunity, with an all-expenses-paid trip that allows students to discuss how we can mitigate the damage caused by natural hazards such as earthquakes and tsunamis. This is a great opportunity for developing future leaders who will take action toward national resilience and deepen ties between countries around the world.

During their stay, the students will visit Kumamoto and participate in a disaster prevention and harm reduction observation and exchange with Japanese high school students. In addition, they will take part in the High School Students Summit on “World Tsunami Awareness Day” 2024 in Kumamoto.

This is an exciting opportunity that will enrich their understanding and continue to inspire them to make a difference.
