Triple Triumph! OHS Athletes Selected to Represent Auckland

Triple Triumph! OHS Athletes Selected to Represent Auckland

Congratulations to Lisa Hellyer, Sarah Hellyer and Jaden Clark on their selection to the Auckland team for the North Island Secondary School Athletics Championships.

Their selection follows an outstanding showing at the recent Auckland Schools Athletics Championships, where Onehunga High School athletes claimed a total of six medals across multiple events.

Jaden Clark impressed in the junior category, winning two medals in the 200m and 300m sprints—demonstrating both speed and determination in highly competitive fields. In the senior 800m, sisters Lisa and Sarah Hellyer also made their mark, securing a silver and bronze medal respectively.

Adding to the excitement, Sarah Hellyer delivered a remarkable performance in the lead-up to the championships by setting a new New Zealand U17 record in the 800m at the Auckland City Athletics Club Race Night 4. Her achievement not only highlights her talent but also places her among the country's top young middle-distance runners.

We are incredibly proud of these students for their achievements on the track and their selection to represent Auckland on the North Island stage. Their dedication, training, and commitment to excellence truly embody our school’s WAKA values. We wish them all the best for the upcoming championships!
