Exploring Carbon Systems with Dry Ice Experiments

Exploring Carbon Systems with Dry Ice Experiments

Year 9 and Level 1 students have been engaging in exciting hands-on experiments using dry ice.

As part of their learning about carbon systems and states of matter, students observed the sublimation process—where dry ice transitions directly from a solid to a gas—creating fascinating effects like bubbling liquids and a misty fog that can be poured like a liquid! .

These laboratory sessions provide students with a deeper understanding of scientific concepts through real-world applications. By experimenting with dry ice, they explore key ideas such as phase changes, gas properties, and the role of carbon dioxide in different systems. These interactive lessons encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and scientific inquiry.

Safety remains a top priority, with all experiments conducted under strict health and safety guidelines. Our students are not only gaining valuable scientific knowledge but also developing essential skills in risk assessment and responsible lab practice. Pūtaiao Science continues to provide rich, engaging learning experiences that bring science to life!
