Madeleine One’one Named Youth MP for Maungakiekie in Youth Parliament 2025

Madeleine One’one Named Youth MP for Maungakiekie in Youth Parliament 2025

Congratulations Madeleine.

We are proud to announce that Madeleine One’one, a Year 13 student and prefect at Onehunga High School, has been selected as the Youth Member of Parliament (Youth MP) for Maungakiekie for Youth Parliament 2025.

Youth Parliament is a national programme held every three years, coordinated by the Ministry of Youth Development. It offers young New Zealanders a unique opportunity to experience democracy in action, influence decision-making, and have their voices heard. Youth MPs are chosen to represent each electorate and will travel to Parliament in Wellington in July 2025 to take part in select committee meetings, debates, and question sessions — just like real MPs.

Greg Fleming, MP for Maungakiekie shared:

"Absolutely stoked to officially introduce my Youth MP for Youth Parliament 2025 — Madeleine ‘One’one! Madeleine is a Year 13 student and prefect at Onehunga High School, and a proud local of Onehunga. Her leadership, passion, and deep commitment to our community truly blew me away. I know she’s going to thrive in this role and represent Maungakiekie with heart and strength."

This is an outstanding achievement, and we congratulate Madeleine on being selected for this prestigious role. We know she will represent Onehunga High School and the Maungakiekie electorate with pride.
