We were pleased to host twelve Principals from across Japan for a day at OHS last week.
The group aimed to gain insights into how New Zealand schools incorporate vocational education into their programmes.
With its strong Building and Construction school, Hospitality and Service department, and an outstanding Careers department - offering guidance and opportunities for students to explore future pathways - OHS was an obvious choice, as a place to learn.
The principals enjoyed a guided tour of the school, spending time on the building site, speaking with students and staff.
Ms.Shaw, head of Careers, gave a presentation detailing how her vocational curriculum provides both information and experiences.
The principals were extremely impressed with the breadth and depth of vocational opportunities available to students, and left inspired by OHS’s commitment to preparing learners for a wide range of future careers.
Thanks to Ms. Nicole Grace, Head of our International Department, and Ms. Carla Escobar for their organisation of this tour.
