This year OHS has five Level 3 Business teams entered into the Young Enterprise Scheme (YES). This is a programme designed to propel students into entrepreneurship, and give them the confidence to be problem solvers and perhaps future business leaders.
This is experiential learning at its best. Students have the opportunity to meet business leaders and be inspired by the success of others. They can network with teams from all over the country and compete with each other for significant prizes. They are mentored and attend specialist seminars during the year.
On Monday, the groups attended the YES Challenge 2 - Pitch Day at Trust Arena. ‘The Pitch’ is an opportunity for students to showcase their business ideas in a ‘Dragons Den’ like environment. They are given 5 minutes in front of a panel of prominent local business people to explain their products and business, after which there is a question and answer session, which requires students to think on their feet. The students received valuable feedback on their ideas, which will help them take the next steps in their entrepreneurial journey.
We look forward to following the progress of the OHS companies; Denim Envy, Kiwi Kookies, Tote Tastic, Competent Clothing and Lalelei Creations.
