Hosting a dinner for the Maungakiekie Rotary members is an event we look forward to.
Last night, students from Food and Hospitality planned, prepared, cooked, and served a truly delicious meal. The young chefs produced two main course options and two dessert options that would sit quite easily on a restaurant menu. The table settings, thoughtfully designed with the Rotary blue in mind, were beautiful, and the student waitstaff were both attentive and professional.
The evening was hosted by Prefects Amber- Keisha Kuluia Hampton-Toko-Mikahere and Lile-Rose Sinisa, who welcomed guests and thanked The Rotary Club for their generous support of our school, especially their support for students attending the Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA). Perfect, Vinnie Carter, who attended MUNA this year, gave an account of the experience and expressed how much they had learned about the countries OHS represented and the role of the United Nations in the world.
Head Boy Jacob Cooper then gave a brief account of the school trip to China that he and a group of our students had been on. This had been a life-changing experience for Jacob, who gained a new appreciation of Chinese culture and history. He looks forward to continuing his language studies and hopes to return one day as a fluent speaker of Chinese.
Deputy Principal Ms. Aubrey Mason welcomed Rotary members to the school and added her thanks for their invaluable support of the school and interest in our young people.
Sincere thanks and appreciation to Mr Ryan Thom, Mrs Shital Wati, Ms Karen Coleman and their talented students who provided another fabulous dining experience.
