Food and Hospitality Students Shine!

Food and Hospitality Students Shine!

Ms. Shital Wati, accompanied our students to an event at the Jet Park Hotel on Friday. She was delighted by their performance and wrote:

‘Eighteen of our L3FAH students proudly represented Onehunga High School as they managed the entire front-of-house service for a major event at Jet Park Hotel. They were responsible for serving over 160 guests at the National Convention of FGBMFI (Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship International), one of the largest global networks of Christian businessmen.

Our students were solely in charge of all front-of-house operations – from table service to welcoming guests – and they rose to the occasion with absolute professionalism, enthusiasm, and grace. The feedback was phenomenal. Numerous guests approached me throughout the evening to express how impressed they were by our students’ service, attitude, and maturity.

One of the hotel directors was so impressed that they offered part-time employment opportunities to any of our students who were interested in working at Jet Park Hotel. It was a proud and affirming moment for all of us.

A particularly moving part of the evening was when the organisers called all our students to the front to thank them and offered a heartfelt prayer for their well-being. It was humbling and incredibly powerful to see our students being acknowledged with such warmth and gratitude.

I also want to highlight the compassion our students showed when a guest became suddenly unwell. Without hesitation, one of our students rushed to assist, bringing him water and a bin and staying with him until he felt better. The guest later came to personally thank me, sharing how grateful he was for the care shown to him.

I am incredibly proud of these young people – they were outstanding! Their conduct, work ethic, and hospitality skills were exceptional and a credit to our school.’
