Nau mai rā e te kaiwhakaako Kapa Haka hou, ki te whānau o Te Kura Tuarua o Onehunga.

Onehunga High School would like to extend a warm welcome to our new Kapa Haka tutor. Katarina Tere-Heretaunga (Lead Composer, Guitarist, Poi, Waiata, Mau Patu, Haka and Tikanga Māori Specialist) has begun the process of getting to know our rōpū and working with them.  Katarina comes from Rotorua and her family are experienced leaders and performers in Kapa Haka.  Katarina uses a collaborative approach to the teaching of Kapa Haka disciplines. When required, Pari Turu-Taniora (Poi, Waiata, Haka and Tikanga Māori Specialist) and Te Mihaea Matene (Poi, Haka, Waiata and Tikanga Māori Specialist) will help instruct and mentor our rōpū.  

It's amazing to have Katarina and her team working with us, and to hear waiata and haka ringing out from our wharenui again. 

Any OHS student interested in participating in Kapa Haka is welcome to come to our practices on Tuesday and Wednesday after school: 3:30 – 4:30pm.
