A schoolwide boil up brought students and staff together to share kai and reflect.
At Onehunga High School, we marked Matariki with a schoolwide boil up that brought students and staff together in a meaningful and inclusive way. Led by our Māori Committee and Whānau class, the event involved weeks of preparation. From planning the event to cooking large pots of kai and serving it to the whole school, their effort and teamwork ensured that everyone could be part of the celebration.
Also a huge thanks to our community for your generous koha of food. Thank you to the whānau, staff and Board of Trustees for their koha and support. This collective effort reflected the spirit of Matariki as a time to come together, share and look forward as a community.
The atmosphere on the day was warm and positive. Students and staff shared kai across all year levels and groups, creating a sense of connection that extended beyond the classroom.
Ngā mihi to everyone involved in making this event possible. Wishing you all a restful and reflective Māori New Year.
