Year 10 student Anna Lightbody achieved outstanding results at the National Diving Championships, winning two events and placing second in a third.
During the recent school holidays, Year 10 student Anna Lightbody competed at the National Springboard and Platform Diving Championships. This event is New Zealand’s premier competition for diving, organised by Diving New Zealand, and brings together the country’s top divers to compete in 1 metre and 3 metre springboard, as well as platform events, across both age group and elite categories.
Anna achieved excellent results on the day, despite recovering from injury:
🏆 1st in Under 16 Age Group 1 metre Springboard 🏆 1st in Under 16 Age Group 3 metre Springboard 🥈 2nd in Under 16 Elite 3 metre Springboard
Anna also travelled to the Pacific Junior Diving Championships last week as a selected member of the New Zealand team. This international event brings together top junior divers from across the Pacific region, with competitors from countries including New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia and others, competing in springboard and platform disciplines across age group categories.
Although illness unfortunately prevented her from competing, her selection for the New Zealand team reflects the consistent effort, commitment, and high performance she has demonstrated in her diving.
The school extends its warmest congratulations to Anna on her achievements. Her dedication, resilience, and pursuit of excellence are commendable and serve as a source of pride for the school community.
Ka rawe, Anna. Tino pai tō mahi.
