It was wonderful to see five former OHS students at the school's Careers Expo yesterday.
Mele Fakatava, Mele Feaomoengalu, Liam Morrow-O’Connor, Valu Fuimaono, and Shawn Vaetoru accompanied Mr Jacob Saunders, Pro Sport Coordinator for Auckland Rugby, to share with prospective students information on the 1 year, fees-free course offered by Auckland Rugby Pro Sport. All of the students were delighted with the course and very pleased with their decision to attend.
There are three qualifications available to students on the course: NZ Certificate in Sport and Leisure Operations, NZ Certificate in Sport Officiating, and NZ Certificate in Sport Coaching. If successful, they can finish the year with a World Rugby- Level 1 Coaching Certificate, an Associate Referee qualification, and a First Aid Certificate.
The students were very excited to share the other benefits, which include free uniforms and match day access to all Auckland NPC/FPC, Blues and All Blacks Tests, training, and access to the Auckland Rugby Union High Performance Gym with strength and conditioning trainers.
Several of the students have been so inspired that they have already decided to attend University next year to study for a degree in Sport and Recreation.
See Mrs.Shaw in Careers if you would like more information on this course.
