The Tough Guy and Gal Challenge, held at the Kumeu Showgrounds, is not for the faint-hearted. This grueling 6 km mud run pushes competitors to their limits as they race through thick mud, navigate challenging obstacles, and battle their way to the finish line.
Level 3 PED and L3 PTS students took on the challenge as part of their NCEA assessment. The demanding course featured swamp crossings, barbed wire crawls, spider web net climbs, native bush trails, dark tunnels, towering climbing frames, hurdles—and, of course, endless mud!
Despite the tough conditions, our students embraced the challenge with determination, finishing the course exhausted, filthy, and proud. The event was not only a test of physical endurance but also of mental toughness, teamwork, and courage.
Special shout-out to Mr. Collins, who ran alongside our students and was the first male teacher to cross the finish line. With over 1,000 students from across Auckland competing, it was a day of true grit and determination. Congratulations to all who took part!
