On 13 August, we wrote to all whānau regarding planned industrial action by PPTA Te Wehengarua members covered by the Secondary Teachers’ Collective Agreement (STCA). The majority of our teaching staff are members of the PPTA and will be directly involved.
We have now received preliminary notice of the following strike action. The formal statutory notice period for strike action is three days, and we will confirm details again closer to each date.
Planned Strike Action
Full Strike
Date: Wednesday 20 August 2025
Details: PPTA members covered by the STCA will not work at all between 8.30 am and 4.30 pm.
Supervision: For junior students who may need to attend school, supervision will be available. Please email [email protected] by Monday 18 August if this is required so that arrangements can be made.
Partial Strikes
Dates: Monday 15 September – Thursday 18 September 2025
Time: 9.00 am – 3.15 pm each day
Details: During these hours, PPTA members will not teach, instruct, or supervise the following year levels:
15 September – Years 12 and 13
16 September – Year 11
17 September – Year 10
18 September – Year 9
At this stage, the partial strikes on 15 September (Years 12 and 13) and 16 September (Year 11) fall within the senior exam period. Exams will continue as planned.
Mid-Term Break: Please note that Friday 22 August is our mid-term break. This has been in the school calendar since the beginning of the year to provide a pause in our 10-week Term 3. The school will be closed on this day.
