The Onehunga High School Junior Boys football team represented the school proudly at the Hillsdene Junior Tournament.
The Onehunga High School Junior Boys football team travelled to Tauranga last week for the Hillsdene Junior Tournament, where they produced a strong set of performances, collecting four wins and a draw across the week and finishing their campaign with confidence.
After a narrow opening loss to Westlake Boys and a 1–1 draw with Tauranga Boys, the team bounced back quickly. They secured their first win of the tournament in a tight 3–2 battle with Mt Maunganui before putting together a run of impressive results. A composed 3–1 win over Gisborne Boys High was followed by one of their best displays of the week, a 3–0 victory against Ormiston Junior College where the team looked sharp and disciplined throughout.
Despite a setback against Scots College, the boys saved their best performance for the final day. Facing Rotorua Boys High School, the Juniors played with real belief and attacking intent, controlling the match and finishing the tournament in style with a 4–0 win.
With four wins, a draw, and plenty of positive football, the Junior Boys gained valuable experience against strong national opposition and showed they can match some of the best. The players represented OHS with pride, and the school thanks the coaches and managers for their guidance and support across a rewarding week. Well done – we are proud of you.
