Onehunga High School was proud to host the latest KiwiBots robotics competition this weekend in our school hall, welcoming more than 20 schools and community groups to take part.
Our robotics team, Symbiohsis, entered both junior and senior teams in the event. Each team designed, built, and coded their own robot to take on the challenges. The junior competition focused on collaboration, where robots worked together to stack objects for points, while the senior competition was a high-energy 2v2 scrimmage, with teams battling to block and outscore their opponents.
As hosts, Onehunga High also shone on the competition floor. The senior team placed 1st in qualifiers and finished 2nd overall in the finals, while the junior team placed 13th in qualifiers before storming back to take an impressive 3rd place in the finals.
The event highlighted not only the students’ skills in engineering, coding, wiring, teamwork, and strategic problem-solving, but also the strong sense of community fostered at Onehunga High School.
