Boys First XI travelled to Whangārei to compete in the Rex Dawkins Tournament, showing resilience and perseverance.
The Onehunga High School Senior Boys First XI travelled to Whangārei last week to compete in the Rex Dawkins Tournament, where they showed resilience across a challenging draw and finished their campaign with a memorable final victory.
The week began with tough fixtures against strong opponents including Kerikeri High School, King’s College, Long Bay College and Pukekohe High School. While results did not go their way in those early games, the team continued to battle hard and gained valuable experience against quality opposition.
Their perseverance was rewarded later in the week as they lifted their performances and began to turn their efforts into results. Against Northcote College the boys showed great determination, securing a well-earned 2–1 win.
The highlight came in their final match against Elim Christian College, where the team delivered one of their best displays of the season. In a tense contest, OHS showed composure under pressure and found a dramatic late winner to claim a 2–1 victory. It was a fitting way to close their tournament and their season, confirming a 13th-place overall finish.
The Senior Boys First XI represented OHS with pride throughout the week, showing resilience and spirit even in difficult moments. The school extends thanks to the coaches and managers for their support and commitment. Well done
