The New Zealand International Biology Olympiad (NZIBO) is a programme for secondary school students in New Zealand fostering an interest and excellence in biology, leading to the selection of a four-student team to represent the country at the Global Biology Olympiad (IBO).
The seven senior biology students who chose to compete in the New Zealand International Biology Olympiad, impressed their teachers with their commitment to the extensive study required to take up the challenge. This was completely voluntary and self-directed. Students took the two-hour exam earlier this term. This was an excellent extension activity for students wishing to excel in NZQA exams.
Congratulations to all of the students who participated.

Both Jasmin Fynn, and Jasmine Swords, have been offered and accepted a place on the tutorial programme, where they will learn biology at university level. This will be a huge help for them as they progress through to university. At the completion of the programme the top four NZ students will travel to the Philippines to compete in the International Biology Olympiad. We wish them every success and look forward to following their progress!
