First Whole School Assembly 2026

First Whole School Assembly 2026

The first whole assembly of the year was held in the school Gymnasium this morning to mark the official beginning of the academic year.

Principal Hayat opened the assembly with a warm welcome to all, extending a special greeting to the new students taking their first significant steps into learning at OHS.

After introducing the new staff members joining the team this year, Principal Hayat addressed the senior students. She acknowledged the vital role they play in setting the tone for the school, particularly in their engagement with learning and in maintaining high standards of behaviour. She spoke about the hard work, perseverance, and focus required to navigate the year ahead successfully.

Academic excellence was also a key theme. Returning seniors were congratulated on their 2025 NCEA Exam results; a comprehensive report on these achievements will be available in this week’s newsletter to families.

Deputy Principal Ms Aubrey Mason acknowledged the OHS Senior Leadership Team, and Head Prefects Lydia MacDonald and Tali Feuʻu, introduced themselves to students.

We look forward to another successful year where every member of our school community is supported, respected and empowered to thrive.
