We are delighted to warmly welcome back Mr Anthony Keung to OHS.
Mr Keung previously worked at OHS as a teacher of Business and Economics and as Head of Department for Te Reo Māori. He now returns as Teacher in Charge of Basketball for the OHS Sports Academy.
Mr Keung brings a wealth of experience and a strong determination to further develop the profile of basketball at OHS and within the local community. His success as a coach is outstanding. He has coached school teams to New Zealand championship titles and has also coached both the U19 and U23 Counties Manukau teams to national championship victories. In addition, he served as Assistant Coach for the New Zealand Māori Men’s team that won gold at the FIBA Oceania competition, as well as Assistant Coach in the New Zealand Men’s National Basketball League.
Mr Keung is passionate about working with students who demonstrate drive and enthusiasm for the sport. He strongly believes that participation in sport provides valuable opportunities for personal growth and development.
Looking ahead, Mr Keung hopes to establish a basketball development programme at OHS for interested primary and intermediate school students.
One of Mr Keung's former students, OHS alumnus Shea Ili, represented the New Zealand Tall Blacks from 2015 to 2025, is remembered by Anthony for his exceptional talent and dedication.
Mr Keung firmly believes that a strong work ethic is the most important factor in achieving success and he looks forward to supporting and inspiring the next generation of basketball players.
