⭐ Waka Award | Year 10 Student Sissy Szabo

A positive role model who consistently lives the WAKA values and supports those around her.

The Waka Award, introduced last year, is a weekly recognition that celebrates students who exemplify the values, character, and commitment that define Onehunga High School. Named after the waka, our school emblem, the award reflects the idea of learning and leadership as a shared journey driven by effort, direction, and unity. It recognises students who strive for personal excellence while positively contributing to the strength of our school community.

We are proud to recognise Year 10 student Sissy Szabo as the first Waka Award recipient for the year. Sissy consistently demonstrates our WAKA values through her respectful, kind, and inclusive approach to school life. She is always willing to support her peers and takes particular care in welcoming new students to our kura.

Sissy shows strong pride in her learning and continually strives to achieve her best, while also helping others to succeed. She seeks opportunities to lead, models positive behaviour, and sets a high standard for those around her. Ka rawe, Sissy. Your kindness, generosity, and positivity make a meaningful difference at Onehunga High School.
