On Saturday, March 28, a talented group of 12 Onehunga High School students headed to St Cuthbert’s College to compete in the Auckland Regional Debating Competition.
Accompanied by English teacher Ms Plowman and trainee teacher Ms Mapepa, the students faced a gruelling but rewarding day of high-level discourse.
OHS entered three teams, each team competing in four intense rounds throughout the day. Going head-to-head against some of the region's most experienced and competitive programs, our students held their own and secured impressive victories against: Glendowie, Avondale and Macleans Colleges.
Beyond the scoreboard, the day was a masterclass in skill development. Our debaters demonstrated exceptional critical thinking and subject knowledge, representing OHS with pride and integrity. The experience allowed them to connect with like-minded peers from across Auckland, growing their confidence exponentially with every argument made.
