A high-energy pre-season session with new coach Michelle Hansen has set a strong tone for the upcoming OHS netball season.
With only a week to go until the 2026 season officially begins, we’re buzzing after a fantastic OHS Year 9 Netball pre-season session on Wednesday.
The session was made even more special as we welcomed Michelle Hansen, our new OHS Netball Coach. Michelle brings a wealth of experience across school, representative, and national levels, including her role as a former coach of the New Zealand Men’s Netball team. She has contributed significantly to the development of men’s and mixed netball and has worked within high-performance and elite environments. Her coaching style centres on building player confidence, fostering a strong team culture, and creating a clear sense of identity on court, while promoting a fast, expressive style of play grounded in discipline, skill development, and teamwork.
Players had the opportunity to put these ideas into action, with the day wrapping up in a spirited game between our 9A team and Howick College’s 9A squad. It was a wonderful display of whanaungatanga, and we were delighted to also have Howick College’s Premier 1 and Premier 2 coaches join us to help lead parts of the session. The energy is high, the standards are rising, and the excitement is building every week.
This group of players is ready to hit the court - bring on the starting whistle!
