Congratulations to Year 11 student Anna Lightbody for representing New Zealand at the Australian Age Diving Championships.
We are proud of Anna Lightbody, who has been representing New Zealand at the Australian Age Diving Championships, competing across multiple events in the opening two days.
Anna took part in the 14 to 15 Girls 3m Synchro event alongside Imogen Gyde, where they placed 9th. She also competed in the 16 to 18 Girls 1m event, finishing 19th against a strong field.
The New Zealand team has recorded several solid results so far, including a silver medal for Skye Saynor and Agnes Comber in the 13 and Under Girls 3m Synchro, and a bronze medal for Esther Comber in the 14 to 15 Girls Platform. Other events also saw a number of top 10 finishes.
Anna’s selection continues her strong progress in diving. Last year, she achieved national success at the National Springboard and Platform Diving Championships, winning gold in both the Under 16 1m and 3m Springboard events, and silver in the Under 16 Elite 3m. She was also selected to represent New Zealand at the Junior Pacific Championships. While in Year 9, Anna competed in the Auckland Secondary School Diving Championships and won the Junior Girls title, an early sign of her talent and development in the sport.
We wish Anna and the wider New Zealand team all the best for the remainder of the competition.
