Growing Sustainability at OHS

Growing Sustainability at OHS

OHS students are helping turn food waste into sustainable action through the school composting programme.

OHS students are helping turn food waste into sustainable action through the school composting programme. The OHS Environment Group is continuing to promote sustainability across the school by managing food scraps collected from the Hospitality and Food Department for the school compost bins.

Nathan Marshall is mentoring new volunteers Bryce Bandol, Mia Combrink, and Ken Chen as they learn about composting and sustainable waste practices. The compost system is already producing strong results, with Nathan reporting that the compost is “steaming with heat”, a positive sign that the process is working effectively.

Through initiatives like this, students are developing leadership skills while helping create a more environmentally responsible school community.
