Today marked the return of the Onehunga High School Cross Country event after a seven-year hiatus, bringing students together for a full day of competition, fitness, and school spirit.
Students from Years 9–13 took part in races held throughout the school day, with students gathering under the gym seating area ahead of their events, creating an energetic and supportive atmosphere across the school. Year 9 students began the programme during Period 1, followed by Year 10 races in Period 3, while senior students completed the event during Period 5.
The return of Cross Country is an important step in rebuilding school traditions and encouraging participation, fitness, resilience and pride. Staff played an important role throughout the day, helping supervise students and ensuring the event ran smoothly and safely.
