Congratulations to Year 12 student Fred Woodward for making the final 26 players trialling for the New Zealand U16 football team.
Onehunga High School Year 12 student Fred Woodward is one step closer to achieving his football dream after being selected in the final 26 players trialling for the New Zealand Under 16 football squad set to travel to Papua New Guinea in July for the Under 19 Oceania Championships.
Fred recently attended his first national trial and will return for a second trial on the 19th as selectors work towards naming the final squad. Competing against some of the country’s top young footballers is a significant achievement and reflects Fred’s commitment to the sport.
Playing primarily as a right back and centre back, Fred has been involved in football since the age of five and has continued to develop his skills and passion for the game over the years. Being named among the final 26 players is already an outstanding accomplishment and the Onehunga High School community is proud to see Fred representing both the school and his football journey at such a high level.
We wish Fred all the very best for his upcoming trial and look forward to supporting him as he continues to pursue his football goals.
