The Songwriting Club is an opportunity for students to learn, create and collaborate through musical composition. Open to students interested in writing original music, the club provides support and guidance for those wanting to develop their songwriting skills in a creative and supportive environment.
With the Play It Strange national songwriting competition approaching, students interested in submitting an original song can learn the skills needed to prepare and refine their work for competition entry. Students who reach the finals receive a free professional studio recording session with a producer of their choice, along with the opportunity to have their song featured on an album.
At Onehunga High School, students have access to instruments, music software and experienced musicians, making the club an excellent place to explore and develop musical creativity.
The Songwriting Club takes place after school on Wednesdays in the Music Department. Students interested in joining are encouraged to get involved.
