Year 13 Pacific Health Science Academy students joined peers from across Auckland for a day of leadership, learning and cultural connection at the annual Leadership Fono.
On Tuesday 23 June, our Year 13 Pacific Health Science Academy (PHSA) students attended the PHSA Leadership Fono at The Trusts Arena. Organised by the Moana Connect team, the event brought together PHSA students from schools across Auckland to explore leadership, health, and culture through a series of engaging workshops.
Students also heard from an inspiring panel of medical professionals and university students, who shared their personal journeys into health careers and answered questions about study, leadership and future opportunities. A highlight of the day was a three-minute performance from each school based on the theme of weaving togetherness. Our students confidently delivered an impressive improvised performance, showcasing their creativity, teamwork and pride in representing Onehunga High School.
The Leadership Fono was a valuable opportunity for students to strengthen their leadership skills, build connections with other young people, and gain further inspiration as they continue their journey towards careers in the health sector.
