International Students Enrich Life at OHS

International Students Enrich Life at OHS

As we farewell students this term and welcome new arrivals, our international programme continues to enrich the Onehunga High School community.

As Term 2 comes to a close, we would like to acknowledge the many international students who have been part of the Onehunga High School community this term. Whether they have been with us for a few weeks or more than a year, they have made a valuable contribution to our school through their participation in classrooms, co-curricular activities and everyday school life.

Over the coming days, we will farewell around 15 long-term and short-term international students. We thank them for choosing to study at Onehunga High School and hope they leave New Zealand with lasting friendships, memorable experiences and a greater understanding of our culture. We wish each of them every success in their future studies and travels.

While we farewell some students, we are also preparing to welcome a study tour group of approximately 20 students from Hong Kong next week. Thank you to the student buddies who have volunteered to help our visitors settle into school life and experience everything Onehunga High School has to offer.

Our international programme continues to grow, and in Term 3 we are excited to welcome more than 40 new international students from around the world, along with additional study tour groups from Japan and Taiwan. These opportunities not only provide students with a high-quality New Zealand education but also enrich our school community by fostering global perspectives, cultural understanding and lifelong friendships.

A sincere thank you to our staff, homestay families and students for the care, support and hospitality they show our international students. Your commitment helps ensure that every student feels welcomed, valued and connected during their time at Onehunga High School.
