Onehunga High School's boys' football programme continues to go from strength to strength, with multiple teams competing in championship rounds and exciting challenges ahead.
Following an exciting period of football over the school holidays, Onehunga High School's boys' football teams are looking forward to a strong second half of the season. Our Under 13 team has qualified for the Championship Round of the Central Auckland B Grade competition after completing the qualification phase unbeaten. With four matches remaining, they will be aiming to secure the title while also preparing for a Knockout Cup quarter-final against St Kentigern College next week.
The Under 14A team has also enjoyed an unbeaten qualification campaign to reach the Championship Round of the A2 competition. Drawn alongside Takapuna Grammar, Liston College and Botany Downs Secondary College, they have four matches remaining as they compete for a place in the semi-finals.
The Under 14B team currently sits fourth in its qualification pool in the B Grade competition, while the Under 15 team is third in its qualification pool, with both teams well placed to finish the season strongly.
Our First XI resumes its Auckland A3 League campaign this week with an away fixture against Kingsway College on Friday before hosting Dilworth School on Monday at 6.00pm at Waikaraka Park. The team currently sits fourth on the league table and will be looking to continue its positive form.
Later this term, the Under 14A and First XI teams will represent Onehunga High School at Winter Tournament Week, travelling to Tauranga and Rotorua respectively to compete against some of the country's strongest school teams.
The continued growth of football at OHS has been one of the highlights of the year. With record numbers of students participating, the school has installed a second football field to accommodate the increased demand for training and matches. Thank you to our coaches, staff and families for the commitment and support they provide throughout the season. We wish all of our teams every success as they strive for a strong finish to another outstanding year of football.
