Fifteen OHS students demonstrated resilience, teamwork and leadership during a demanding overnight expedition in the Kauaeranga Valley.

Fifteen Onehunga High School students recently completed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh practice Adventurous Journey in the Kauaeranga Valley, hiking to the Pinnacles Hut for an overnight stay.

The first day tested every aspect of the group's preparation and resilience. Students hiked through relentless rain, freezing temperatures, muddy tracks and strong winds, supporting one another as they made their way to the hut. Their determination and teamwork ensured they successfully overcame the challenging conditions.

The weather cleared on the second day, providing the group with the opportunity to complete the climb to the Pinnacles summit. With calm conditions and clear skies, students climbed the steep staircase to the top, where they were rewarded with spectacular 360-degree views across the Coromandel Peninsula.

Congratulations to all 15 students on successfully completing this challenging practice journey. A special acknowledgement also goes to student leader Arlo Gould, whose leadership and support throughout the expedition played an important role in the success of the group.
