Taking Business Beyond the Classroom

Taking Business Beyond the Classroom

Rhys Anstis and Zuni Kalim put their entrepreneurial skills into action at the YES Market Day.

Level 3 Business Studies students Rhys Anstis and Zuni Kalim recently took their business, UpRight Pillows, to the Young Enterprise Scheme (YES) Market Day at Wynyard Quarter. Through YES, Rhys and Zuni have developed their business from an initial idea. They identified an opportunity for a custom orthopaedic travel pillow and worked to turn their concept into a product ready for customers.

Along the way, they have developed a range of entrepreneurial skills. They have considered their target market, developed their product and worked on how best to promote it. They have also gained experience in pricing, marketing and sales. Market Day gave Rhys and Zuni the opportunity to sell UpRight Pillows directly to the public. They spoke with customers, explained their product and gained valuable experience in customer service.

Taking UpRight Pillows from an idea to a product and now to market, is a great achievement. Congratulations to Rhys and Zuni. We look forward to seeing their business continue to grow.
