A standout ride secured Gio his best result of the series.

OHS rider Gio Minano produced an excellent performance in Round 4 of the Auckland Secondary Schools Cross Country Mountain Bike Series at Tōtara Park. Recent rain made the hilly course particularly challenging, with slippery conditions testing riders throughout the race.

Gio handled the conditions exceptionally well, finishing second in the U17 Boys. It was his best result of the series so far. He also finished ahead of his St Kentigern’s College rival for the first time this season. Unfortunately, illness prevented fellow OHS rider Louie Gould from competing.

The final round takes place at Saunders Reserve, Paremoremo, on 13 September. It will also include a relay event. OHS finished second in the Co Ed relay last year and is now looking for a third rider to join Gio and Louie for this year’s event.
