Students discovered how new technologies are changing healthcare and creating future career opportunities.

Last week, our Year 11 Pacific Health Science Academy students attended the 2026 MedTech Explorers Showcase, where they had the opportunity to meet researchers, innovators and experts working on new healthcare technologies. The interactive showcase featured 25 exhibitors and gave students the opportunity to explore a wide range of MedTech innovations. These included life saving medical devices, AI powered diagnostics, wearable technologies and digital health solutions designed to improve healthcare in our communities.

Students also attended sessions with five guest speakers who shared how technology is being applied to current health challenges. They learned about the use of AI in primary healthcare, developments in predicting heart failure and new approaches to supporting mental wellbeing. Students also heard about how clinicians, researchers and individuals can develop a MedTech idea and take it from an initial concept towards a practical solution.

The visit provided our students with valuable insight into the connection between science, technology and healthcare, while introducing them to some of the study and career pathways emerging in this rapidly developing field.
