Senior students explored university study and future pathways.
On Tuesday, a group of Year 13 students spent the day at the University of Auckland for the Uni for a Day event, hosted by the Great Potentials Foundation and MATES. Students had the opportunity to experience university life, tour the campus and learn more about the different faculties and study options available. Throughout the day, our students demonstrated our WAKA values through their engagement and willingness to participate.
They answered questions from presenters with enthusiasm and confidence and finished the day by dominating the final pop quiz. Students also heard directly from current university students about their experiences and what to expect from tertiary study. The visit provided a valuable opportunity to explore the campus and develop a better understanding of the transition from secondary school to university. It was particularly encouraging to see the strong interest our students have in tertiary study in 2027.
Some have already received conditional offers of place through the University of Auckland Fast Track programme, making the visit especially relevant as they begin making decisions about next year.
