Senior students put their hospitality and catering skills into practice.

Last night, Onehunga High School held its annual Canapés Evening, with Level 3 Catering and Hospitality and Level 3 Food students showcasing the skills they have developed throughout the year. Students prepared and presented a range of food for their guests while demonstrating the service, organisation and hospitality skills required to deliver a successful catered event. The evening provided an authentic setting for students to put their learning into practice and take responsibility for delivering a high standard of food and service.

It was wonderful to welcome parents, members of our community and staff to share the evening with our students. For parents, it was a particularly special opportunity to see their children at work and to celebrate the knowledge, confidence and practical skills they have developed through their senior courses. Seeing students apply their learning in front of guests is an important part of these programmes and gives them valuable experience of the expectations of the hospitality and catering industries.

The Canapés Evening is always an important occasion for our senior students and a chance to recognise the work that has gone into developing their skills throughout the year. Congratulations to our students on an excellent evening, and thank you to the staff who have supported their learning and to everyone who joined us to celebrate their work.
