Gio Takes Third Overall and Louie Sixth in Auckland Mountain Bike Championships

Congratulations to Gio on a podium finish and Louie on sixth overall across 72 schools.

OHS riders Gio Minano and Louie Gould have achieved outstanding results in the Auckland Schools Mountain Bike XC Championships. Competing in a series involving almost 250 riders from 72 schools, Gio secured third overall in the U17 Boys, while Louie finished an impressive sixth overall in the U15 Boys. Gio’s result capped off an exceptional series in which he achieved five podium finishes across the five rounds.

The fifth and final round took place at Sanders Reserve in Paremoremo on Sunday 13 September. Gio completed the series with another podium, placing third in the U17 Boys, while Louie produced another strong ride to finish seventh in the U15 Boys. Overall championship standings were determined from each rider’s best four results across the series, making their final third and sixth placings excellent achievements in highly competitive fields.

Sanders Reserve provided a demanding final test, with fast open trails, tight sections through the trees, challenging uphill climbs, BMX style jumps and rock gardens. Gio and Louie have performed consistently across a range of courses and conditions throughout the season. Their final championship placings are a fantastic result and a strong finish to the 2026 mountain biking series.

We are very proud of what they have achieved. Well done to them both on an outstanding mountain biking season.
